1541. Centre approves ₹117-crore push for border villages in Himachal under Vibrant Villages Programme-II
- On 23 July, 2025, It was reported that, The central government has selected 75 villages in Himachal Pradesh bordering China under the Vibrant Villages Programme-II, aiming to improve infrastructure and living standards. These are part of a broader strategy to develop sensitive border regions and reduce outward migration from such remote
- A total of ₹117 crore has been approved for 113 projects, which include community halls, internal roads, sewage treatment, solar lighting, and tourism and skill development. These initiatives are designed to improve daily life and economic opportunities for border villagers.
- Vibrant Villages Programme-I was launched on 15 February 2023 for villages along India’s northern border in states like Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal, and Ladakh. It aims to counter border insecurity by developing frontier villages and enhancing the sense of inclusion and presence of governance.
1542. Indian Railways spent ₹60,466 crore in passenger subsidy in FY24
- The Indian Railways provisionally incurred a subsidy of ₹60,466 crore in the financial year 2023–24, covering 45 per cent of the cost of passenger travel, the Union government informed the Lok Sabha on 23 july 2025.
- “The increase in fares is very low, ranging from half paise per km to two paise per km for premium classes,” he said.
- Minister, said Indian Railways offers transportation services to over 720 crore passengers annually and that fares remain among the lowest globally, including in comparison with neighbouring countries.

1543. Centre and Delhi govt unveils ₹27,000-crore plan to decongest capital with 128km

1544. CIL Invites Bids For 875 MW Solar Project In Rajasthan’s Bikaner District
- On 24 July, It was reported that, Coal India Limited (CIL) has released a tender for setting up an 875 MW (AC) solar PV power project at the 2,000 MW Solar Park developed by Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) in Pugal, Bikaner district, Rajasthan.
- The project must be completed within 24 months from the date of commencement. However, the Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (SCOD) will be extended automatically up to six months or until the associated transmission system by RVPN is commissioned, whichever is earlier. If delays persist, SCOD can be extended by another 30 days without penalties.
- The tender’s technical evaluation will be conducted online. Only those who meet the required criteria in terms of past project experience (minimum 175 MW AC in EPC or as a developer), financial turnover (average of ₹1,263 crore in the last 3 years), and net worth (at least ₹421 crore as of March 31, 2025) will qualify.
1545. Telangana Launches ₹6,478 cr Rural Road Network Under HAM
- On July 24, 2025, The Telangana government approved ₹6,478 crore road development plan under the Hybrid Annuity Model, marking a major effort to enhance connectivity in rural areas.
- The project’s goal is connect every village to its mandal office and every mandal to its district HQ. Phase I covers 373 roads spanning 5,190 km across 17 packages.

1546. India develops personnel sphere, completes welding on submersible after 700 trials
- In a landmark achievement for India’s Deep Ocean Mission, Isro has successfully developed the personnel sphere for the submersible vessel MATSYA-6000, designed to carry humans up to 6,000 metres (6km) below the ocean surface, by completing a critical welding process after 700 weld trials, said ISRO On 23 July, 2025.
- ‘Samudrayaan', a project under the Deep Ocean Mission of the ministry of earth sciences (MoES), aims to strengthen India’s capabilities in deep-sea exploration.
- The milestone marks a significant leap for India’s underwater exploration ambitions and brings Matsya-6000 closer to sea trials. Once complete, the vehicle will be among the very few human submersibles in the world capable of reaching such depths, opening new frontiers for deep sea science, resource exploration and technology development.
